Trailing after Gillian

As I may have mentioned before, my friend and colleague Gillian is doing a London-Amsterdam bike ride next weekend. As her last long ride we decided we would go to the open day of one of our Collection Holders (we both work here).

I say we, but actually Gillian started from Guildford and did 23 miles before we met up, and we did another 50-ish together. Some of it was a bit drudgy along A-roads with traffic, but most was off-road on the Salterns Way and the Centurion Way which was just lovely (if not conducive to speed).

We had a good stop and refuel and gorged on the beauty and scent of the gingers as well as the tea and biscuits.2013-09-01 12.59.19

We then returned to Midhurst, me trailing rather feebly behind as my stamina had decided it only wanted to do a 40 mile ride.

But part of the reason for this post is to wish Gillian a huge amount of luck and fun for next week, she is a lot braver than me! And she has improved massively as a cyclist in terms of speed and stamina in such a short period of time. If you have the urge to sponsor her, you can find the links to do so here.

    Good luck to Gillian!

My friend Chuck and I have noticed that the RSI (ride satisfaction index) is often higher on roads where you have to go slower. 🙂
