No small dogs

The wind was 45-50kph today, gusting into the 80s (no, it means nothing to me either – the weather forecasts all seem to have simultaneously switched to kph from mph). In Herne Bay terms this is indicated by only big dogs being walked along the sea front, and a higher degree of friendliness when you meet people (mainly because you are a couple of steps away from an unexpected dip, or an unexpected embrace).

It does make for very tough running, but I have a nagging suspicion that it is good training – the load in terms of direction and strength of wind is unpredictable, it makes you work far harded for the distance than normal – similar to hill training or off-road running, with added exhiliration as it is difficult not to find it fun.
