About 7 miles of cycling to and from Parkrun. Thought I would be marshalling, which is fun and low-responsibility, and warm. Turned out I was timekeeping which involved being very alert with one very cold hand activating the stop-watch button. There are two timekeepers, which is lucky.
Today was a record for Whitstable with over 400 runners, and not too many volunteers, so it was quite exciting (eeeeeeek). And there was a very speedy front-runner who was about 3 minutes ahead of everyone else.
But me and my chilly fingers survived and that is the first day of Red January done – quite a few parkrunners had their red t-shirts on.
